This is a die-cast zinc, nickel plated flip-top cap. The cap is formed as a stylized eagle, and its overall dimensions, wing tip to wing tip, is some 8". There is also a larger version of this cap. The Boyce motometer is a 2-1/4" Midget model. The eagle's head is pulled forward to release the flip-top cap, allowing the engine coolant to be added to the radiator.
The front attachment, where an initial would normally go, has a white cross design on a red background inside a blue glass-enamelled ring. A large selection of cap attachments were available. These ranged from initials, to fraternal organizations, to symbols. This is one of the more colourful examples. |
