Animals - Birds:  Alfred The Penguin.

1925-30, French marching Penguin known as Alfred.  He was a popular cartoon character in a French Sunday newspaper and was fitted as a charm to ward against evil spirits on the roads.  He came in three sizes including one for motorcycles.

Silver plated bronze and signed to the base by the sculptor:  Jacques Cartier.  Standing 120mm high, the tag around his neck reads Alfred.  Aiain Saintogan.  Supplied by Founder of art Henri Rouard 10 to 12 rue de L' asile - Popincourt Paris.
