|A Rare N.R.M.A. Honour badge. These badges were issued occasionally from the mid 1930's, this particular badge is numbered 35. |
The badges were special awards to N.R.M.A. members who had made significant contributions to the cause of motoring, very often in the areas of road safety.
They are similar to a regular N.R.M.A badge, except that the tyre and wings motif is gold plated or lacquered. Additionally, there is a blue enamel section at the base containing the slogan HONOUR BADGE. Below the slogan is a red/gold enamel motif depicting a tied bundle of sticks, this denotes unity. The laurel wreath was made from brass and attached separately, it was painted black and green.
