Moreau-Vauthier was born in Paris in 1871, he studied under Thomas at the Ecole des Beau arts. He exhibited at the Salon Des Artistes Francais, becoming an Associate in 1885, an honourable mention in 1898, third class in 1899, second class in 1907 and a first class award came in 1928. He was also awarded a silver medal at the Exposition Universelle of 1900 and the Legion d'Honneur in 1910.
