1950s British's mascot of a running man possibly based on the athlete Roger Bannister, a 25-year-old British medical student, who became the first man to run a mile in less than four minutes. His time was 3 minutes 59.4 seconds, achieved at the Iffley Road track in Oxford and beating his main rival for the sub four minute mile record Australian born John Landy. |
