Accessory Mascots

Advertising Mascots:  Penguin On The Beer.

Marked to the base Depose 6567.  This mascot is a bit of a mystery, and one of only two in the world that are known to exist at this time.  The story goes that a coal merchant from Nancy France had two delivery lorries and he had two mascots of this design made for fitment to them.  It is believed that the coal merchant stopped trading in the early 1930s.  A fellow collector found one of these mascots at the priest house in the same village and this one was found in Belgium.  I don't know why a coal merchant would chose a mascot of a Penguin holding a tankard of beer and with a barrel under his arm marked with a cross for his lorries, maybe it was to remind him of the end of the day and his long awaited pint.  I would be interested to hear from other collectors who have or know anything about this rare mascot.
