| Stop your engines from pinking by filling your tank with BP ETHYL the Sportsman's Petrol. In 1931 tetra-ethyl lead was introduced to boost the performance of BP petrol by improving the octane rating and thus reducing the knocking effect. The sale of petrol known as 4 star here in the UK has this additional tetra-ethyl lead addictive but its distribution has been greatly reduced and is now only available from specialist garages for the classic car that cannot be converted to run on unleaded petrol. There is also an alternative that can be added to the petrol on fill up. |
