A range of motoring accessories sold through the retailers S Smith & Sons, Speedometer House, 179-185 Great Portland Street London W.  Notice Robert the British policeman, designed by John Hassall and signed Hassall.  It is well documented that these mascots were made from bronze, however here is proof that some of the very early ones were also made from brass, all variants of this popular mascot had a hand painted porcelain head that was movable to alter Roberts expressions, also found with a nickel plated finish, originals never in chrome.
